Catch, battle, and Mega Evolve—all in real time!
Step onto the battlefield and command your Pokémon directly—there are no turns! For the first time in the Pokémon RPG series, Trainers and their Pokémon can both move around in real-time battles, and your Pokémon will unleash their moves when you tell them to. Strategically swapping out your Pokémon and accounting for each move’s timing and area of effect will greatly help you in this new style of battle.

Harness the power of Mega Evolution
When Trainers have a strong bond with their Pokémon, a Key Stone worn by the Trainer resonates with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, allowing Mega Evolution to take place.

Rogue Mega Evolution
Rampaging Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon are threatening Lumiose City. These Pokémon are extra tough to beat, but if you do manage to defeat them, you'll receive valuable Mega Stones as a reward.
Rise through theranks of the Z-A Royale
You’re invited to join the Z-A Royale, a competition for Pokémon Trainers to test their skills and determine who’s strongest.
Each night, a battle zone for the competition will appear. Prepare yourself by spending the day in wild zones, catching and training Pokémon, then venture into the battle zone and take on other Trainers.
Be strategic and complete bonus card challenges as you battle to speed up your climb from Rank Z to Rank A.

Pick your partner
Choose Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile as your first partner Pokémon, and then set off on a grand adventure!
Chikorita can use the large leaf on its head to determine the temperature and humidity of its surroundings. It will also use this leaf to seek out warm places, since it loves sunbathing.
Tepig uses its excellent sense of smell to find food. It loves to roast and eat Berries, but sometimes it gets too excited and burns them to a crisp, rendering them inedible.
Totodile is small, but it has a rough and tough personality. It won’t hesitate to take a bite out of anything that moves within its sight. Its powerful, well-developed jaws are capable of crushing anything.
Welcome to Lumiose City
Visit shops, restaurants, and more, all centered around Prism Tower. An urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon.

- Urbain or Taunie
You’ll make a new friend—either Urbain or Taunie—who lives and works at Hotel Z, supporting the owner however they can. They may come on strong at times, but they like helping people and Pokémon.

Expand your adventure inLumiose City with DLC
Mysterious distortions have appeared without warning in Lumiose City. They seem to connect to a space known as Hyperspace Lumiose...and the mythical Pokémon Hoopa might have some part to play. It looks like your story with Team MZ isn’t over yet—continue your journey in Hyperspace Lumiose after completing the main game!

The Ralts holding a Gardevoirite can be received in either the physical or digital version of either game. Level up your Ralts to evolve it into Kirlia and then Gardevoir. After the player receives the Mega Ring, a Gardevoir holding a Gardevoirite will be able to Mega Evolve.
